Q: I’ve been training hard 5 days a week for almost a year. I decided to try the Anabolic Reload Mass Workout, and after the weekend off and then only 1 workout, I swear I look bigger with new muscle size. Is it my imagination? With this workout I’m doing less volume, but I am using the high-to-low STX method with a slower negative, 1/3 tempo, on ever rep. I’m more sore than I’ve been in a while, but is it really possible that I’m bigger already?
A: It’s not only possible, it’s very probably — reality and NOT your imagination because of a few things that are happening to induce new, immediate hypertrophy…
1) You were no doubt overtrained, so by taking a weekend off and then providing your muscles with a quick precision dose of Anabolic Reload stimulation (STX: slow-twitch-to-fast-twitch growth threshold work), your muscle were finally ALLOWED to grow.
2) With the 1/3 tempo–a slower 3-second negative–you gave your muscles a unique stimulus, one that provided more trauma due to the eccentric-stroke emphasis (slow lowering on every rep). That soreness is an indication of intra-muscular inflammation, which means swelling–a bigger, fuller look the very next day.
3) Anabolic Reload includes stretch position exercises for each muscle, so that adds to the muscular damage that causes soreness and induces muscle fiber remodeling.
In Chapter 7 of Anabolic Reload we tell the story of Arthur Jones, creator of Nautilus machines, and how he claimed that he could put a full half inch of permanent muscle size on any bodybuilder’s upper arms after only one workout.
Ridiculous? Not when you understand what is actually happening and how growth occurs…
The key was just what you described: a bodybuilder who is overtrained — most are — a few days of complete rest, and then only a few precise sets with negative emphasis to allow cumulative growth to finally occur AND to trigger some inflammation.
With that method, Jones never failed to make AT LEAST a half inch of new permanent arm muscle size to appear after only one quick, focused workout with negative emphasis.
And sometimes it was more than a half inch. That’s just what you’re experiencing…
It’s the reason Anabolic Reload works–from the very first workout: precise, total hypertrophic stimulation for immediate mass creation.
