Not many people know this, but women used to pay Arnold to sit behind him and watch him rhythmically flex his buttocks.
Yeah, right—well…maybe. Seriously, this “Superman pose” is one you rarely see Arnold doing. Not sure why because he looks great—very aesthetic…
And we’re not sure who took the photo, but it was probably a Weider ad for something like his Super-Sex Ginseng Penile Propellant—which apparently worked especially well on the dance floor…
According to John Balik, who trained with Arnold back in the day at the original Gold’s Gym, the Oak could go from off-season smooth and small to competitive big and ripped in no time flat—a matter of weeks. His genetics and receptors to, um, “supplements” were that good.
We’ve also mentioned Arnold’s ability to focus almost robotically on the target muscle throughout every rep of every set—known as the Weider Stockholm Syndrome Principle.
Okay, it wasn’t really called that, but controlling your reps and almost self-hypnotizing yourself to zero in on the working muscle can make your sets much more effective. Research shows that slower, no-momentum-tension contractions enhance fast-twitch muscle activation—and that means more growth…
You can make it even better with slow-twitch exhaustion (STX). For more on all of that, as well as the ideal size-building exercise for each muscle infused into efficient mass workouts, see Old Man, Young Muscle.
Till next time, train hard—and smart—for BIG results.
