Arnold was hired by park rangers to provide directions to lost hikers and scout troops on the Santa Monica Mountain trails.
We’re not sure who took the pic, but it’s a great shot from early in Arnold’s career. You can see he was finally focusing on defining his mass—and experimenting with animal-print trunks.
His ripped competition bodyweight was around 230 pounds at 6’2”, which is not huge by today’s standards…
That’s because he didn’t just strive to get as big as possible; he refined his physique, and used a variety of exercises and torque curves to do that…
