So… For those following our training blogs here on X-Rep.com, you may have noticed I haven’t been around since July. My training blogs were sporadic at best because of my work schedule, and then I started a new venture in the late summer which completely took me away from being able to post updates, but I’m back in action…
Quick update: Most of the summer revolved around incredibly short workouts that involved a single bodypart per workout, so efficiency wasn’t even a big plus. Without it being my intent, I was barely in maintenance mode for several months. Not only can I see the backward motion, I can feel it. I probably needed a bit of a back-down on training intensity and volume, but not to that extent or for that long.
Of course, this also gives me the perfect opportunity to make some drastic changes in a relatively short period. This week was still my “old” work schedule, but I was able to squeeze in a break-in period for going back to the basics. I’m currently on Phase 1 of Size Surge 2.0, so it’s a great opportunity to set the path for big changes. I’ll continue with the exact split as listed in Phase 1, but the rep schemes will be a bit different. Partially because I prefer longer tension times these days, but also because I don’t have enough weight in my gym to train in the 7-9 rep range. Plus, old-man joints. LOL!
I’ll go back to daily detailed training blogs starting on Monday. For now, it just feels great to know how much things are changing for the better.
Note: My split is based on the Phase 1 routine in The X-traordinary Size Surge Workout 2.0 e-book.
Back in Action Summary
My schedule was already incredibly busy since January, so there was simply no time for written updates about my training. That was even more true for the last few months, but my training suffered from August onward, too. I never stopped training, but the workouts were horribly short. Somewhat intense, but still too short for my liking. As luck would have it, another big change just occurred, but this one will actually have a positive effect on my training schedule. Not only should that mean more time to update my training blog, but I should see some great gains over the next several weeks.
