Woke up at my normal time this morning (I’m old now, that’s just what happens), but started off in slow motion for my Christmas Eve gym adventures. Still fighting off a slight cold or something, but it was all good once I got through the first few minutes…

Christmas Eve Gym Adventures Summary
I initially woke up at around 3 a.m. and could feel that I was seriously fighting something off, so I went back to sleep and let my immune system do its dirty work. Woke up a few hours later feeling good enough, so out of bed I arose to see what was the clatter… It was the weights I was slowly loading on the squat bar. LOL!
I actually sat in the gym for about 20 minutes before even getting moving, then took my warmups slow and cautious. After the blood started to flow, it was all (mostly) business as usual. I chanced it and went with 100% effort on everything (I usually recommend cutting back slightly when sick), but I felt “safe” since the volume is so low right now. Felt great during the workout, but a bit lethargic right after as I had to force-feed my post-workout meal to myself. Strength was there through the whole workout, though, and I even increased the weight on a few exercises with no negative effect on the rep numbers. I’ll call it a win!
Luckily, it’s Christmas Eve, so I’ll be fairly mellow today as we prepare for Santa to deliver the goods to our boy in the morning tomorrow.
