I ended up with an opportunity I couldn’t turn down for Veteran’s Day yesterday, so I pushed the training day into a legtastic Thursday. Great workout! Quads got hammered, and hams and calves felt ultra swollen, too…
Quads: Squats (3×15,12,10 + X Reps); Sissy squats (2×8,6—DXO + X Reps); Leg extensions (2×15,12 + X Reps)
Hamstrings: Stiff-legged deadlifts (3×10,8,8—DXO + X Reps); Seated leg curls (2×15,12 + X Reps)
Calves: Alternate DB calf raises (3×15,10,12 + X Reps); Donkey calf raises (2×15,10—DXO + X Reps); Seated calf raises (2×15,12 + X Reps)
Note: My current split is based on the POF MMX Mega-Mass Workout in the new e-book MMX Fast Mega-Mass Workouts–the Max-Muscle X-pansion System.
Summary
I hated to skip leg day yesterday morning, but a great opportunity came up to celebrate the freedom that we have because of our veterans, so I jumped at the chance. That just meant I was looking forward to today’s workout even more, so intensity was nice and high. Slow and controlled reps on squats meant my quads were getting a severe beating, and DXO on weighted sissy squats was a big eye opener. LOL! Same can be said for stiff-legged deadlifts. Calves responded very well today. I kept rest periods as short as possible, and kept all sets in complete control without being overly robotic. It was a great workout with a lot of blood flow… And a lot of heavy breathing. LOL!
