Pointless Muscle-Growth Tactics?

Q: I recently started following [Chris Beardsley’s research colleague] Paul Carter on Instagram [@liftrunbang1] due to your recommendation. He said that methods like rest/pause and drop sets are pointless for building muscle. Any comment?
