Steve Holman after one month of X-Rep training

I need some soreness in my life, so I oped for all-stretch exercises today. Felt great but painful… [Read more…]

Keeping up with workouts but not updates – Jonathan

Jonathan Lawson before after

So, yeah… I’ve broken my own rules and slacked off on my training blog posts, but I have been keeping up with my workouts. You’d think it would be easy to quickly jot down some training notes, but MAN is life busy. That’s not a complaint, though…

Steve: STX Midrange Tuesday (legs/chest/back/abs)

Steve Holman after one month of X-Rep training

Haven’t done an all-midrange workout in a while, so today was the day. I added rest/pause to only a handful of exercises because I didn’t want to run out of gas. My workouts have been sporadic lately, so must keep it manageable and build back up gradually…  [Read more…]

Steve Holman after one month of X-Rep training

Sporadic workouts led me to a Saturday morning home-gym session. slow-mo stretch move for STX effect followed immediately by a speed set of a midrange exercise. Great workout…

Steve: X-cen X-cel Midrange Wednesday (legs/chest/back/delts/arms/abs)

Steve Holman after one month of X-Rep training

Crazy stressful situations right now, so my workouts have been sporadic and mostly home-based. Today I hit the home gym again, but I did something totally different: I used midrange exercises, but I started with an X-centric set, lift in 2 seconds and lower in 6, rested 10 seconds, then did an X-celeration set to failure, which is controlled speed reps, about 1.5 seconds each. Quick, unreal workout…  [Read more…]

Steve: Home Stretch STX Tuesday (legs/chest/back/delts/arms)

Steve Holman after one month of X-Rep training

It’s been a while since I had a home workout. And since a local gym closed, my gym has been excessively crowded. So it’s home sweet home today… [Read more…]

Steve: STX Midrange Friday (legs/chest/back/abs +)

Steve Holman after one month of X-Rep training

Interesting that I have gravitated to either all-midrange, all-stretch or all-contracted exercise workouts. In the newsletter and in the new Anabolic Reload e-book we’ve mentioned Brad Schoenfeld, Ph.D., and his 3 key hypertrophic triggers: mechanical tension with heavier training, metabolic stress by blocking blood flow with continuous tension and muscle damage via microtears. Those correspond to the three exercises in POF–midrange, contracted and stretch. In other words, focusing on one of those at each workout might just be an ideal size stimulator…  [Read more…]
