Like so many of the champs throughout the years, most had (still have) no clue as to what is proper body mechanics, nor even less about how physics plays an important role in resistance exercise. They achieve a degree of success because they did enough productive work to offset the compromised exercises, and they had decent genetics. We cannot assume that they truly understood resistance exercise simply because they achieved a degree of bodybuilding success.
The way most bodybuilders train is the shotgun approach—throw in every exercise possible over time, some being 9 or 10 on the effectiveness scale, others being 3 or 4.
The problem is, that random style saps recovery and reduces optimal stimulation. Too much damage and energy expended on inferior exercises.
The better way is to emphasize the biomechanically IDEAL, or “ultimate,” exercise for each muscle, then follow with one more add-on to take advantage of variation in fiber recruitment. See the ebooks below.
