Who knew four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler could sing well enough to do a residency in Vegas? Here he is belting out “The Hills Are Alive” from the Sound of Music.

Okay, that’s not true—although maybe he can sing, who knows? We included this picture because it shows that big men like Jay can look stylish in a suit and tie. Many don’t make the effort and look like they’re wearing a circus tent.

That’s because it’s not easy when you’re 270 pounds, almost all of it muscle. Granted, Cutler isn’t nearly as big as he was when he was competing—and he has the money for a good tailor. He’s still plenty big and thick.

He still uses many of the the same training methods, like emphasizing the stretch area of the stroke of many exercises—sometimes using stretch-partials only.

And he also uses a Speed Set cadence, which is about 1.5 seconds per rep, on most sets. And at the end of a set when the reps get painful, he likes to scream-sing “Highway to Hell” by AC/DC.

We agree with those hypertrophy methods, although we prefer “Pump It Up” by Elvis Costello.
