Perfect timing for a cold/flu. Yes, that was definite sarcasm. It’s Turkey Time tomorrow, and I came down with a little something on Monday night. Actually, the whole family seems to have the same thing. I took yesterday as a rest from training, hoping to recover and go 100% today. No such luck. I felt the need to train, however, so I dialed it back a bit to make sure I’m feeling decent enough for high volumes of turkey intake tomorrow… [Read more…]
Jonathan: Delts, Arms (Freeze-Flex)
It officially feels like November in the gym now, so it was a bit of a Freeze-Flex Friday. If you’ve followed our training blogs for a while, you’ll know that’s a good thing for me, though. I love me some cold-weather training. I may never fully understand why, but intensity and focus is always increased when the air is cold… [Read more…]
Jonathan: Delts, Arms (early-to-rise)
It was an early-to-rise Tuesday. Really early! We had a storm blow through in the wee hours of the morning, and the lighting lit up my mind, so all I could think about was everything I needed to get done today—despite the fact that I could’ve slept for several more hours. Early workout meant extra caffeine and no rush, however, so despite the minimal sleep, it was a shockingly good one today… [Read more…]
Jonathan: Delts, Arms (POF pump)
It was a great POF pump for all muscle groups today, and that’s despite the fact that I completely forgot to use DXO on the stretch movements. LOL! I guess the last delts and arms day was so great that my subconscious decided to duplicate the workload… [Read more…]
Jonathan: Delts, Arms (ferocious Friday)
The shoulder and arm pump today made for a ferocious Friday workout. Just a few minor alterations over Tuesday’s workout to keep things interesting, and I walked out of the gym feeling incredible… [Read more…]
Jonathan: Delts, Arms (Royally Pumped)
Royally pumped today, and not just because of the Royals World Series Victory Parade. Shoulders and arms felt extra swollen today – probably the biggest pump I’ve had in over a month. Great stuff… [Read more…]
Jonathan: Delts, Arms (back to business)
It was all about getting back to business this morning. You may have noticed my schedule last week wasn’t exactly a regular one. It’s funny that after nearly 24 years of training, you still have to be ready for the unexpected. Nothing bad, just a week that had a lot of last-minute issues to deal with. Back to the muscle-blasting party this morning though… [Read more…]
Steve: Full-Body (opposing supersets)
Once I got started today, I realized that Wednesdays should actually be a pared down version of my Monday and Friday full-body workouts. That will create “undulating” intensity/volume to avoid overtraining. Unfortunately, I didn’t do much to downshift today. In fact, I began with a pretty rigorous superset of two types of squats and actually added a superset. D’oh!… [Read more…]
Steve: Full-Body (opposing-muscle supersets)
Felt a bit under the weather this morning–too much football watching yesterday maybe. Lol. I plowed through my workout of opposing-muscle supersets anyway, and it actually felt pretty good–although on the very first superset I had to substitute DB stiff-legged deadlifts for Flat-back hypers. Interesting how much more of a drain the deadlifts are… [Read more…]
Jonathan: Delts, Arms (wake-up wagon)
After a great weekend of nonstop family fun, activities, and late nights followed by the 3:30 a.m. shock of needing to make an airport run this morning, I needed to jump on the wake-up wagon in a bad way. Super-TORQ was just what the muscle doctor ordered…
