This is a spectacular shot of 1968 Mr. America Jim Haislop, apparently right after someone yelled, “Hey, Jim, what’s up?”
His incredible symmetry, proportion, and size had many bodybuilding experts proclaiming him one of the best bodybuilders ever, competing at 5’11” weighing in at 210 pounds with a 32” waist and 19” arms…
True mass with class—and with Hollywood good looks too. He was actually born and raised in Florida…
His training was a mix of higher-rep sets and heavier, lower-rep training, a sure-fire way to get mass in ALL muscle fiber types…
If you’re a bodybuilder, you absolutely want to maximize the size of every last fiber in all of your muscle groups—total hypertrophy. Yes, even the type 1 “endurance” fibers…
Remember what researcher Jerry Brainum said recently: “It’s now known that type-1 [slow-twitch] fibers are also capable of showing a significant level of muscular hypertrophy.”
Haislop seemed to know that instinctively. Getting growth in BOTH the slow-twitch and fast-twitch fibers can max out muscle volumization. In other words, you get more “swole” on your muscle size as a whole.
And, according to TheBodybuildingArchive.com, “Jim was one of the first mainstream bodybuilders to understand the importance of unilateral training, focusing on one side of the body at a time.”
He also instinctively gravitated to many of the “ideal” exercises, such as incline one-arm lateral raises…
That may even be a home gym considering that he’s training in his underwear.

Till next time, train hard—and smart—for BIG results.
