Here’s a shot of Danny Padilla doing the River Dance, an Irish jig believed to be the secret to massive leprechaun legs.

Seriously, that’s quite the eye-popping quad flex, one of the reasons that the Giant Killer had one of the best short-man physiques in bodybuilding back in the ‘70s…

He competed weighing around 160 pounds at 5’2”. His training style was perfect for big pumps fast, packing on mass and maxing out his potential without turning his joints to dust…

It’s difficult to let go of pushing around huge weights in the gym, but Padilla knew instinctively that heavy joint pounding can lead to serious, lasting damage. He was more about coaxing growth…

Thanks to talking with someone who trained with Danny, as well as our discussions with Vince Gironda on his Density Training, our workouts evolved away from joint-crushing weights…

And we’re still training with density for muscle immensity well past middle age. Steve is 62, Jonathan almost 50.

Padilla’s workouts were best described as “progressive muscle-fiber exhaustion” with moderate weights. That means no hammering joints into submission with crazy poundages…
